Welcome to ScumbagContractor.com, a public awareness platform created to expose the fraudulent and unethical practices of two shell companies that have been used to deceive homeowners and businesses—Imperial Home Remodeling and IHR Inc. owned by Giovanni (John) Esposito of Gloucester County, NJ.
I built this website after personally losing $7,700 in a deposit to Mr. Esposito for a home improvement project he never intended to complete. After signing a contract and accepting payment, he breached the contract without performing any work—leaving me with no permit, no progress, and no way to reach him due to the use of fictitious or unverifiable business addresses. He made one phone call to us on a Thursday night at ~6:30pm saying he got done a job early and wanted to start demo at 7am. He revealed that he had never obtained the necessary permit and wouldn't be able to as he was not a licensed electrician or plumber-two scopes of work that would be getting done at our home with this project. Also worth noting, this was the Thursday before Christmas 2023 and he said he wasn't going to be working the weekend, Christmas Day ,or probably the day after and the debris would remain in our home until sometime next week. Being we already had plans to do things that Friday, we wouldn't be able to allow him access into our home on such short notice anyway. He said he would call us back next week and arrange a start date (which were were trying to contact him for since the beginning of December). He never called. We contacted him in the end of January and demanded the deposit be returned and he laughed and refused. Because he's a scumbag........
This wasn’t just a bad business deal—it was a deliberate scam, and I quickly learned I was not the only victim.
